RYE Y LEADERS CLUB AT A 3-DAY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Leaders Club is a self-governed group of high school students that meet at the Y weekly with their advisors (Scott Umbel, Lou Caratelli and Danielle Ybarra).  They are united under a common goal of building themselves and each other through teamwork and challenging work.  The Leaders work both in the Y and outside the walls within our community in various service projects and leadership roles.  They volunteer as mentors with the Ys afterschool program, a workforce at the Hunger Task Force and assist in a number of roles throughout the community.  In addition to service hours, the Leaders build through weekly “values” workshops that focus primarily on themselves; growing as a leader and young adults. 

Leaders club is one of the oldest and longest running teen programs within the Y movement stemming from the early 1900’s and continuing through today.  For more information or to join the Rye YMCA Leader’s Club please contact the teen department at the Rye Y for more information,  914-967-6363. The club is open to any high school students and meets Wednesday at 5:30pm at the Y.

 It’s wild to think that we are already getting ready for the new camp season.  Our camp brochure jumps in the mail soon and should be out to you by mid-December (or click on the above link if you can’t wait!)

 This past summer’s camp filled up faster than ever before, many programs filling by April.  We highly encourage you to register early and not miss out on the camp sessions you want!  We expect to fill many of our camps in March this season so don’t wait until you’re late.

Registration will be online at www.ryeycamp.org, at the front desk or by mail.  Registration Forms will be available online starting in January.  Online registration is the fastest way to get registered but please have your child’s most recent immunization records ready.  If financial assistance is needed, your application is due 3 weeks prior to when you wish to register.

Returning Campers & Siblings à Wednesday, January 11^th @ 9am
New Campers à Wednesday, January 18^th @ 9am

 What’s New for 2012?

• Fine Arts Camp is expanding another 2 weeks.  We have also broken up the age groups to better accommodate skill development.
• Video Production Camp will extend for a second week
• Pathfinders and other Discovery Camp groups will have some of their own trips to graduate through this year.
• Pizza Friday will now be a one-time payment online to make taking orders easier on both our parents and leadership team.
• We are working on making our drop off and pickup smoother for all involved.
