 2. Leadership programs for teens

  • NEW! Leaders in Training (completed grades 6-8)
  • Counselors in Training (completed grades 9-10)

3.  Camper membership benefits at the Rye Y
We require all campers to be members of the Rye Y, which means your child is able to enjoy the Y all year round, before and after summer camp!  Many of the programs that your child participates in during the summer within camp  are continued throughout the year at our Y! Keep your child engaged after the summer and part of our community!

4. Make new friends & memories
Amidst the games, swimming,  theme days, and special activities, campers meet new friends and strengthen relationships with old friends. Throughout the camp day, we have incorporated leadership and team building into our curriculum. Your camper will acquire important skill sets to help  prepare them to be a Future Role Model! Summer camp at the Rye Y is an unforgettable experience that will teach campers valuable skills, create special friendships and provide them with memories they will take with them all through their lives!

5. Communication and camper care
Here at the Rye Y, communication is a priority and we want you to know about your camper’s achievements on a daily basis! Weekly newsletters and  picture slideshows, daily camper recognition, counselor to parent daily journals, new beads to add to our bead/ necklace program, camper care cards and much more!

6. Swimming
We offer swimming in all of our full day summer camps (Not including CIT and Adventure camp). Our swimming component in all of our camps is structured, safe and will help your child become a better swimmer by the end of this summer. Also, did you know we track your child’s swimming level/ skills on a weekly basis? At the end of each week, parents/ caregivers will receive a certificate stating the swimming level of their child!

7. Healthy Fun
Day camps offer fun, stimulating activities that engage the body and mind, and also help children and teens learn the importance of nutrition, healthy eating and importance of physical activity on a daily basis!

8 .ACA accredited camps
Why an ACA- Accredited Camp? ACA Accreditation means that your child’s camp cares enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of it operation – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at your child’s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research- based standards in camp operation. ACA helps camps provide:

  • Healthy, developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences
  • Discovery through experiential education
  • Caring, competent role models
  • Service to the community and the environment
  • Opportunities for leadership and personal growth

9. Qualified staff & low counselor/ camper Ratios
At our Y, we have an extensive hiring process for our summer camp counselors:  a series of interviews, reference checks and background checks. When hired,  our camp staff undergo an extensive training. Over the course of three days they are prepared for a summer where their priority is  to make sure your camper is safe, enriched, making friends, developing and acquiring skills and most importantly have fun! In addition, all camp leadership is certified in American Red Cross Responding to Emergencies (First Aid and Epi – Pen) and CPR Pro. During the summer, weekly staff meetings are held to ensure our camp families are satisfied.

10/ The evolution of camper to counselor!
Did you know that the Y is one of the largest first time job employers for young adults in the United States? Through the memories your camper makes during the summer at the Rye Y, our goal is to have your camper become a leader and role model within our camps starting first as a camper, moving on to our Counselors in Training program, than as a counselor!
