A Great First Day at Camp

Here is a letter from a happy mom about her daughter’s first day at camp:

Hi Scott,

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you and your staff for a great first day. My six year old daughter was very excited to tell me all about her day—everything from the new friends that she made to her counselors and all the fun things that they did. I think I was more apprehensive about her first day than she was, but after today, I’m not only completely relaxed about it, but I’m just really excited for her & her friends that they’ll get to experience day camp at the Y, just like I did when I was a kid (back then, the White Plains Y had a facility on King Street in Greenwich, which is where I went and loved it).

The staff you’ve hired is fantastic. It’s been a long time since I can remember meeting such courteous, sweet, outgoing kids. Brandon, Lauren & Veronica were all very kind and really just put me right at ease. Just from watching them in action today for the 15 minutes that I was there, I can tell that they are very hardworking and really take pride in their jobs. What excellent role models they will be for our kids. Not to mention that you, Scott, really have everything under control. I noticed at pick up today how you somehow made all of that work, and fielded lots of questions from lots of parents with complete ease. It’s very clear that you guys really love what you do, and it shows the faces of the (literally) happy campers!

I’ve always heard great things about this camp, and now I know firsthand why.  I’m very glad we chose the Rye Y for our daughter’s first day camp experience. Thanks for everything. Looking forward to a great summer, and hopefully many more to follow.

Kristen
